So in religion class we got the low-down of a new assignment. In chapter 2 of our religion book, we're learning about the first 100 years of the Church (33 C.E. to 100 C.E.*)
That means, of course, that we'll have a project about it. Because we're eighth graders and can totally handle complicated technology and group work now, we get to make an "exciting and captivating" movie trailer for "the Pentecost". Today's part of the assignment was to read Acts 1:13 - 2:41, take notes, begin thinking of a general script, and think over a few things:
I'm doing that right now, actually (courtesy of the USCCB's online NAB.), so I haven't quite completed this part of the assignment...Cough...
A) The Backgrounds of the Apostles
B) Description of the Event
C) The Languages
D) Peter's Speech
I did start a vague little "script-like" thing, just for the heck of it, during a lull in class:
V.O. The most controversial man in history has died on the cross...
[something of hands being nailed?]
V.O. betrayed by the friends He loved...
- Judas' betrayal - the silver
- Peter's denials
[Pilate washing hands]
V.O. but for God...
[darkness, perhaps water dripping?]
V.O. ...it was only a beginning.
Sounds fun, this assignment. I just hope that this video assignment goes better than the last one I had. I'm debating working in a group on this one, since, well. Cough.
Anyway, just felt like getting that off the front page of my blog. Ciao.

*Why are we using Common Era in a CHURCH HISTORY book? At a Catholic school? [I don't like the Crossroads series we use at school. I tend to lean towards the only online review I've ever seen, where it says that 'this book is a liberalized, watered down, dummed down history of the Church'.]
