Under the Influence

No, this is not about drugs. This is about one of the most influential people in my life: My dad. I figure that I've done Jesus enough that He would like me to give some credit to my earthly parents, so:

Influence

Probably the most influential person in my life has been my father. He helped get me here—onto this earth, and into this school. He’s supported me in almost everything I’ve ever done; from sports to art to music to math and science, he’s been there for me. A strong father is the key to having a good childhood, especially for a young adolescent girl. In many psychology books they speak of how girls with good relationships with their fathers tended to be better behaved, do better in school, and have higher levels of happiness later in life as well. I hope that this will prove true with me, because my dad is one of the best!

Dad was there when I took my first steps, from literal walking to the first tentative notes on a clarinet, to dimensional analysis. He constantly reminds me that he loves me—but shh! You can’t tell anyone I said he said that, because he’s supposed to be the “Meanest Daddy in the World”. He has continued to prove his love, all throughout my life. Not just has he given me what I wanted, but, possibly even more of a sign of his love than that, he’s said NO. He has shown true charity, true love for me by giving me what is the best for me as his daughter; sometimes, what’s best for me isn’t what I want, or isn’t what I think will be the best, and he knows better. Fortunately, he’s taken the time to explain his reasoning and help me become the best person I can be, and I know he’ll be holding my hand as long as I need him there. Dad has been an extremely influential figure in my life so far, as short as it is, and he will certainly be here with even more influence over me when I get old.
